Flourishing In Faith
Flourishing In Faith | August 9th
Have you noticed that it's possible to fall into a rut in your relationship with God, for example, just going through the motions? Your prayer life, church attendance, serving, groups, and gatherings become more like a box you check on your religious list than something you passionately do. As a result, you pull back and, eventually, become detached altogether. Sure, you may be physically present at church or reading the Bible, but you are not connecting with God. To combat this clear and present danger, you must remember that God wants you to flourish in your faith by taking the necessary actions.
Paul told the believers at Thessalonica about a flourishing faith when he said in Second Thessalonians 1:3, "Dear brothers and sisters, we can't help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing."
The faithful and then 90-year-old Apostle John told his beloved congregation the same when he said, in Third John 1:1-4: "The elder, To my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in the truth. 2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
Once again, you must recognize that God's heart is for you to flourish in your faith. Secondly, you need to keep being obedient even when there may be no answers to prayer or feelings of joy. Finally, remain connected to God through prayer and consistent church attendance. If you do these things, your spiritual roots will strengthen, and you will flourish while waiting on the Lord!
Flourishing in your faith combines the suitable activity and attitude before God.
