Put On Shame Repellent
Put On Shame Repellent | July 11th
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, "radiant" means happiness, vividly bright and shining, glowing, and marked with confidence. Interestingly, David describes himself this way despite being in a cave, seemingly on the run and now in hiding from King Saul, who sought his life. Psalm 34:5 says, "Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." It's important to note that David's radiance is not self-generated but comes from his unwavering focus on the Lord, the true source of confidence and happiness.
Like David, as we look to the Lord, we will receive an unmistakable glow of grace that serves as a repellent to shame. See, there had to be some shame in what David was experiencing. While we cannot quantify how much humiliation came from his adversaries or bad choices, we know our missteps don't displace God from His throne. His grace is greater than our blunders, and His power is as limitless as it is matchless. Therefore, the wisest decision we can make in dispelling and repelling future shame is to seek the Lord.
Psalm 121 states: "I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."
You may be dealing with some residual shame from your past. Seek the Lord and give it to Him. Shame has no place in your life because you are a king's kid, blood-bought and sealed with His promise.
