Beware Of Negative Voices
Beware Of Negative Voices | March 7, 2024
A sweet couple was trying to have a baby, but they were unsuccessful in realizing their dreams of a family. Both husband and wife had well-paying jobs, and they wanted for nothing. However, if given the chance, they would trade their affluence for the opportunity to be parents in a second! To their credit, they did everything possible, including imploring the help of specialized physician programs and places, but to no avail. As time passed, some people in their inner circle became increasingly pessimistic about their window closing for having a baby. As a result, they started feeding into the negativity and became doubtful themselves. So they prayed about these negative reports from friends and doctors and decided to tune them out respectfully. Instead of listening to the fearmongering and the impossible talk of others, they prayerfully focused on the goodness of God and His promises. A few months later, the couple was pregnant with triplets!
Whether God answers your prayers directly or indirectly, you want to keep this couple's practical strategy in mind. First, choose to kindly stop listening to people who do not have a mindset of faith (we will talk more about this in tomorrow's devotional)—allowing individuals and their fearful outlooks to control you is unhealthy and counterproductive. Second, focus on what is good and encouraging.
Philippians 4:8-9 says, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable if there is any excellence if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
As you eliminate those negative voices and focus on what is helpful to your soul, peace will emerge amidst whatever problem you may be facing, and trust in God's power to provide will prevail.
May God bless you in all your righteous prayer requests, especially those asking God to bless you with a child.
