You Need A Squad
You Need A Squad | February 4th
The word squad is synonymous with teams, groups, military detachments, and any functioning unit of people. In my experience, I was on a squad relating to sports and lived in a squad during my college days. Interestingly enough, some of my squad members and I are still close to this day.
Think of your connection to church as you would a squad. We are unique members of God's team called by Him to be used in specific ways. For example, in John 13:34, Jesus established a standard for the squad of believers when He said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another."
In Galatians 6:2, the Apostle Paul tells us to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
The author of Hebrews added these commands concerning God's squads: "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25
Are you part of God's squad? Whether you realize it or not, you need to be with other believers to grow and fulfill God's purposes for your life. It will be impossible to obey God without being connected to His church. There are numerous commands in the New Testament attached to serving others through the context of the church. In addition, you have a particular set of skills and gifts that God has given you to be used in advancing His kingdom plan. Being on the squad helps you discover and distribute those blessings.
While there is no perfect squad, there is also no excuse for not being in God's squad. Finding the right one may take time, but remember, we must be diligent. Ultimately, be in a team that upholds God's Word so you can love the Lord and others accordingly. Also, your squad will help you find resources such as small group Bible studies and other ministries to assist in spiritual growth.
To God be the glory for the blessing of the church. Now, go and support your squad today!
